Digital Mitosis
From 2014 to 2016 I served as Adjunct Lecturer in Modern Dance and Guest Choreographer at Santa Clara University in California. During this time, I engaged a diverse student body, making relevant to their academic interests the performing arts; choreographed on 10 dancers for Images, the Department’s annual dance concert; and advised 2 students on their senior theses, coaching them from project inception to project end. Below highlights the group work I created for Images titled Digital Mitosis.

Description
In Digital Mitosis, Lins Derry explores where nature ends and technology begins or how they interweave into the human experience. The organic body, no matter what context you put it in, can almost never be abstracted from its inherent figurativeness. Its animalistic and spiritual nature always dominates its expression. Through juxtaposing bodies with electronic music and “digital” gestures, Digital Mitosis finds the grey area between technology, nature, and humanity.
